In pursuit of these goals, a new FIRST! campaign has been launched, focusing this time on the domain of <strong>Sustainability<\/strong>. Marking the inaugural phase of this new campaign, a <strong>call for ideas<\/strong> has just been published on ESA\u2019s <strong>Open Space Innovation Platform<\/strong> (OSIP) and will remain open until <strong>26 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For this call, the scope has been expanded to include <strong>system studies<\/strong> that contribute to the <strong>environmental sustainability<\/strong> of the European space transportation sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As a result, this call for ideas welcomes proposals not only for technology prototyping and testing, but also for system-level studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The objective is to <strong>raise awareness<\/strong> about sustainability in future space transportation and to <strong>support<\/strong> <strong>concrete technology developments and system studies <\/strong>that contribute to the ongoing transition of the European space sector.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative directly supports the ESA Green Agenda sustainability objectives, in alignment with <strong>Agenda 2025<\/strong> and <strong>Strategy 2040<\/strong>, in two keyways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maximising the sustainability benefits to society generated by our space programmes<\/li>\n<li>Minimising the environmental impact of our activities, including efforts to mitigate climate change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The goal of this call is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify\u00a0<strong>technology providers<\/strong>in specific technology fields relevant to\u00a0<strong>environmental<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>sustainability in\u00a0<\/strong>future European space transportation.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Identify entities with expertise in\u00a0<strong>environmental <\/strong><strong>sustainability<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0<strong>system studies<\/strong>\u00a0related to future European space transportation.<\/li>\n<li>Identify\u00a0<strong>space transportation service providers <\/strong>interested in technology disruptions and\/or system studies in these areas, gathering their needs and preferences.<\/li>\n<li>Identify potential\u00a0<strong>investors<\/strong>interested in key technology and system study providers for future space transportation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For both technology and system study ideas, the following categories to be considered are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>More environmentally sustainable space transportation ground logistics, including transport and management of components<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>More environmentally sustainable space transportation systems and technologies,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>More environmentally sustainable <\/strong><strong>materials and propellants for space transportation<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>More environmentally sustainable processes for space transportation,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Other\u00a0technology disruptors and system studies in the field of environmental sustainability for space transportation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are a technology or system study provider with disruptive ideas in these fields, a space transportation service provider, or an investor seeking promising advancements in this domain, <strong>join the call for ideas now open on ESA&#8217;s Open Space Innovation Platform (OSIP).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The upcoming phase of the FIRST! campaign includes a <strong>Pitch Day<\/strong> to showcase the outcomes of this OSIP call, followed by an <strong>ESA Invitation to Tender<\/strong> for maturation activities related to Technology Disruptors and System Studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We look forward to hearing from you \u2014 and welcome to FIRST!.<\/strong><\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ideas.esa.int\/servlet\/hype\/IMT?documentTableId=45087218055645070&#038;userAction=Browse&#038;templateName=&#038;documentId=3d38172375f869e73aeddf57153695ca\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"btn btn btn-outline-secondary ms-0\">Apply now on OSIP<\/a>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FIRST! stands for Future Innovation Research in Space Transportation and is an initiative of the ESA\u2019s programme for future space transportation, FLPP.
