{"id":11018,"date":"2024-12-09T11:08:34","date_gmt":"2024-12-09T10:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/commercialisation-new.dev.remediagroup.it\/?p=11018"},"modified":"2025-01-24T12:50:15","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T11:50:15","slug":"esas-green-transition-information-factories-gtif-driving-innovation-and-sustainability-towards-carbon-neutrality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/commercialisation-new.dev.remediagroup.it\/?p=11018","title":{"rendered":"ESA&#8217;s Green Transition Information Factories (GTIF): Driving Innovation and Sustainability Towards Carbon Neutrality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ESA <strong>Green Transition Information Factories (GTIF)<\/strong> are an online ecosystem of solutions, powered by Earth Observation and other geospatial data, that allows users to interactively discover the underlying opportunities and complexities of transitioning to <strong>carbon neutrality by 2050<\/strong> using the power of <strong>Earth Observation<\/strong>, <strong>cloud-computing<\/strong>, and <strong>cutting-edge analytics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>cloud-based integrated GTIF environment<\/strong> enables:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Decision-makers<\/strong> to assess and monitor the effectiveness of policies and evaluate political objectives and outcomes using GTIF-provided data, indicators, and interactive exploration tools;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Industry <\/strong>to develop novel solutions to foster the Green Economy, supported by space technologies, and connect to relevant national and international stakeholders within the wider GTIF ecosystem;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Citizens <\/strong>to engage and understand the needs for their actions through interactive exploration tools and scientific narratives across key Green Transition domains.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The GTIF is a key component of <strong>the Space for Green Future (S4GF) Accelerator<\/strong> and the wider ESA strategy to address the <strong>Green Transition<\/strong> and the required transformation of economy and society towards a <strong>sustainable and carbon neutral future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The GTIF initiative is set to make significant strides in green technologies. Building on the success of <strong>Austria\u2019s first GTIF demonstration<\/strong> last year, this innovative concept is advancing its mission to support national priorities in their <strong>Net Zero journey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>New GTIF Activities Launched<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In the spring of 2024, ESA launched three <strong>new GTIF kick-starter projects<\/strong> in additional geographic areas: the<strong> Baltics<\/strong>, <strong>UK<\/strong>, <strong>Ireland<\/strong> and <strong>France<\/strong>, and the <strong>Arctic and North Atlantic<\/strong>. These projects aim to strengthen <strong>open innovation<\/strong> and <strong>scalability<\/strong> across diverse regions and sectors, empowering stakeholders to drive the Green Transition forward.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Phase 1 (first 6 months)<\/strong>: developing a set of new capabilities for a smaller region and demonstrating these co-created capabilities to the engaged stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phase 2 (months 7 to 24)<\/strong>: focusing on geographic upscaling and scientific robustness, then showcasing the developments in a regional presentation covering large areas and several countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The developed capabilities will be ported to an interoperable and reusable cloud-service implementation and made available within a GTIF services marketplace.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is coming next?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The ESA \u2018\u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/esastar-publication-ext.sso.esa.int\/ESATenderActions\/details\/127009\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Information Factory Pathfinders for Adaptation<\/a><\/strong>\u2019\u2019 activity aims at exploring further the <strong>Information Factory<\/strong> concept, pushing towards the operationalisation and integration of EO-integrated services by end-users in the context of adaptation.\u00a0 Here the recording of a <strong>dedicated online information session<\/strong> for an overview of the activity.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Online Information session on  Information Factory Pathfinders for Adaptation Activity\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ql5Z45UyemE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To get more information and apply to our recent <strong>Call for Expression of Interest for Contributing Value-Added Products and Services<\/strong>, click below.
