About

In-Space Transportation Proof-of-Concept, or PoC, is an initiative of the ESA STS Future Launchers Preparatory Programme. Through a series of open competitions, the Proof-of-Concept (PoC) venture will de-risk space transportation capabilities and foster standardised interfaces using incremental in-orbit demonstrations.

ESA is enabling the future: an ecosystem with a scalable, modular in-space transportation fleet based on optimised reusable launchers. In such an ecosystem, reusable space-tugs will dock to their payloads in parking orbits, deliver them to their orbital destination, and refuel with orbital propellant depots, allowing them to pursue their missions and providing in-orbit servicing for space transportation.

In-Space Transportation Club: A Space Community

ESA’s Future Space Transportation programme believes that the future orbital market will feature an ecosystem of actors providing unbundled added-value services in orbit.

PoC’s club for in-space transportation facilitates a network of European stakeholders (both users and providers). Participants can share their needs and expectations of in-space transportation developments, as well as steer the design and standardisation of enabling interfaces and capabilities that address these needs.

Join the Club

Join the club’s first session virtually on 21 February from 14:00 – 16:30 CET to kickstart your connection with ESA’s in-space transportation network. The session will feature:

• an overview on ESA’s vision and In-Space Transportation Proof of Concept
• a presentation on in-orbit rendezvous and docking from OHB & The Exploration Company
• pitches from future providers of in-space transportation services
• an introduction to future OSIP calls for ideas and the chance for users to provide feedback
