In-Space Transportation Club Session #3: In-Orbit Refilling

Steer the future of in-orbit transportation

Join ESA’s In-Space Transportation Club for Session #3 on 13 February 2025 from 14:00 – 16:30 CET. This virtual session will focus on the emerging in-orbit refilling market.

Session #3: In-Orbit Refilling

This event offers participants insights from ESA and industry into ongoing and planned projects to mature in-orbit refilling capabilities. In-orbit refilling is a key enabler for the in-space transportation ecosystem, with the potential to extend mission durations and unlock new missions and new opportunities in the orbital economy.

During the session, ESA and industry leaders will present ongoing and planned projects which are building in-orbit refilling capabilities in Europe to address the needs of future customers. Participants will have the opportunity to share their requirements for these technologies and influence the development of critical technologies and interface solutions for in-orbit refilling. ESA will also unveil more information about the Odyssey flagship programme to enable orbital propellant depots.

The In-Space Transportation Club: A SpaceTech Community

The In-Space Transportation Club, initiated in the frame of ESA’s In-Space Transportation Proof-of-Concepts (InSPoC) initiative, serves as dynamic professional network in the European SpaceTech community to discuss and develop innovative space transportation technologies.

The Club empowers the European SpaceTech community to shape the future of European space transportation by connecting stakeholders and supporting the development of essential in-orbit systems.

About

In-Space Proof-of-Concepts, or InSPoC, is an initiative within ESA’s future space transportation ecosystem programme (FLPP). Through a series of open competitions, InSPoC will de-risk space transportation capabilities and foster interoperable interfaces with incremental in-orbit demonstrations.

ESA is enabling the future: an ecosystem with a scalable, modular in-space transportation fleet based on optimised reusable launchers. In such an ecosystem, reusable space-tugs will dock to their payloads in parking orbits, deliver them to their orbital destination, and refill with orbital propellant depots, allowing them to pursue their missions and/or providing transportation support for in-orbit servicing.
